Welcome to the Humanist Academy
The Humanist Academy is a not-for profit educational charity promoting the principles and practices of Humanism: Our work includes producing a range of education material for schools; running courses, seminars, workshops and exhibitions, and providing a variety of Humanist services for the general public
Humanism is based on a set of moral principles, those enshrined by philosophers and guided by science - principles that encourage humanity to live peaceably and prosper. In brief, Humanism -

- Is committed to democracy, a liberal outlook and human rights
- Favours an open and pluralistic society
- Embraces and celebrates life's diversity
- Is concerned with securing equality and eliminating discrimination
- Accepts the right to hold a worldview of one's choice
- Seeks to understand the world through the lens of reason
- Allies with naturalism that supports explanations with evidence
- Rejects supernatural explanations supported only by faith
- Urges the conservation of the Earth's resources
- Advocates the separation of church and state
